On the other hand, it is the work of the department to invest in the individual who can serve integrity and meet the probity principle. Because the appointment of individuals in the public sector is always considered a high-risk area for conflict of interest situations. WHAT IS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST SITUATION IN THE APPOINTMENT? An individual who is bounded to serve an organization or any government organization should be able to work on the principles such as selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, leadership, and commitment to the highest standards of propriety and impartiality. And the individual with such qualities should be considered the ideal candidate for the position. But the involvement of c

THE VIRTUE OF SELFISHNESS IS "THE OBJECTIVIST ETHICS"

Is selfishness a virtue? Ayn Rand chose the book’s title as she was on a mission to overcome centuries of demonization. Rand writes that the word selfishness is a synonym for evil. The image it depicts is of a murderous brute who tramples over the piles of corpses to get their goals. To pursue the gratification of the mindless whims of any rapid or immediate moment. The exact meaning still says “concerned with own interests” the concept does not tell whether concern with one’s interests is good or evil or what comprises the actual interests. it is wholly the task of the ethics to answer such things.  Morality demands to choose between sacrificing people to ourselves and sacrificing our values to satisfy other needs. In the book, she rejects both opinions as forms of selflessness and offers the concept of egoism which is the ethics of rational selfishness that rejects sacrifice in all its forms.  Moral principles are not a matter of personal opinion. They are based on the facts of reali

SPIRIT OF SERVICE

Social service does not mean merely going out into the streets and cleaning them. Whatever work you are engaged in, whatever duties you have to perform as an official or an employee, to do your duties efficiently and with diligence and devotion is also Seva (social service). Those in authority who discharge their functions well enough to justify the salary they receive are rendering real service. But such persons are rare. Employees agitate for more wages but do not render commensurate service to justify the incomes they receive. Disinterested service will ennoble man and raise his stature. It endows man with the intelligence and the skills required to refine human nature.  Doing one's duty diligently is not enough. Men have to cultivate other qualities like love, sympathy, fairness, compassion and forgiveness. Only when one has these qualities will he be able to render dedicated service. It is the sense of dualism---of "mine" and "thine"--which accounts for all

ETHICAL STANDARDS OF MANAGEMENT

Image
Ethics are moral principles that guide a person’s behaviour. These morals are shaped by social norms, cultural practices, and religious influences. Ethical decision making is the process of assessing the moral implications of a course of action. All decisions have an ethical or moral dimension for a simple reason—they affect others. Managers and leaders need to be aware of their own ethical and moral beliefs so they can draw on them when they face difficult decisions. Ethical decisions can involve several determinations. The field of ethics, also known as moral philosophy, shows that there are various ways of systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct. For example, from a consequentialist standpoint, morally right action produces a good outcome or consequence. A utilitarian perspective takes the position that the proper course of action maximizes overall happiness. WHAT ARE MANAGERIAL ETHICS? HOW CAN WE DEFINE ETHICS IN MANAGEMENT? Ethical management
